About Mama Tree Farm

The mother tree, found in many places around Mama Tree Farm symbolizes the reciprocal giving and receiving on the farm.

As we actively nourish our relationships to each other, the community and the land, so they nourish us.

Mama Tree Farm is a woman-owned farm in Worcester, Vermont, owned and operated by me, Amy Thornton.

With the tremendous support of the farm’s living ecology,, I grow cut flowers, herbs that support mental well-being, forage hay, and timber.

I also create ancient-plant baking mixes and offer ecological design consulting.

My life experience, graduate design degree in Risk and Resilience, Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, 2020, and doctoral studies at College of Built Environments, University of Washington, inform the farm’s mission to:

promote health and wellbeing for people and planet, connection and understanding across difference, supportive community, and beauty.

My passion is to

  • grow beauty from the soil up and the inside out;

  • teach others how to design and create climate friendly, biodiverse gardens, farms, and landscapes;

  • keep our agricultural landscapes biodiverse and productive;

  • connect people to the land and each other.

Mama Tree Farm uses regenerative, SYNTHETIC-CHEMICAL-FREE, AND CLIMATE & SOIL FRIENDLY farming practices.*
